Re: Staff Rosters

Dear Mr. Murphy,

I have been contacted by a number of members regarding issues pertaining to the changing of Staff Rosters without any notice or agreement with the staff concerned. I have been told that such changes are being made by Management to save on staff costs/payroll, which if true, is totally unacceptable. Staff are being told by their Managers not to report for work on the following day, despite said staff being rostered to work on the following day.

As you can understand that if true, such practices are totally unacceptable. If Management are looking to change any staff member’s roster such changes should only be done after proper notice, consultation and agreement with the staff member concerned.

I would be grateful if you could give the above your urgent attention and investigate same. Then revert back confirming the outcome of your investigation. I would also welcome confirmation that such unacceptable practices, as outlined above, will not happen and if changes are required to a staff member’s roster that Management will provide the staff member with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice, where possible, but more importantly, such changes to be done following consultation and agreement with the staff member.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Meegan
Divisional Organiser.
