Debenhams Further Update 01/04/2021

Dear Member

A meeting took place between this morning between the full national shop stewards’ group, representatives from Solas and the Department of Education. The purpose of the meeting was to get a clearer understanding as to how the current available €3 million fund might be used to the full benefit of the ex Debenhams workers. As a next step individual store based information meetings will be arranged on the Teams platform and they will be facilitated by Mr David Smith from Solas. Details of the arrangements for these meetings will be made available through local union shop stewards/committee members and it is expected they will take place over the course of the next two weeks. Following the completion of the store meetings the national shop steward group will reconvene to decide whether another general ballot should take place in respect of the €3 million fund.
