TO: ALL MANDATE MEMBERS EMPLOYED IN TESCO IRELAND
Dear Member
On a regular basis we have taken the opportunity to reach out to you the members working in Tesco Ireland in an effort to determine your priorities. We have done this through surveys and recent Zoom meetings with store based Shop Stewards and Committee members.
Understandably one of the main issues continuing to command you attention is the workplace management of Covid-19, a precarious situation you and your fellow union members have had to courageously deal with over the past 12 months. It is important that we all continue to insist on the highest levels of protection possible as you go about your daily work related duties. You have also told us that we need to fight for the best financial reward from your employer which reflects the reality of working through this dangerous pandemic. To this end the following claim has been served on your employer.
“We are seeking a substantial upward adjustment in hourly rates of pay/earning levels, including the share bonus allocation that takes account of the following.
- Additional productivity
- Additional sales and profits generated by the business
- Increased hazardous nature of the working environment
- Cost of living
- Pay equality between current pay scales“
As identified by you the members these are the core demands/justifications behind your pay claim. Any attempt by your employer to unilaterally introduce something that does not satisfactorily deal with these important issues will be ultimately determined by you the members by way of a ballot vote conducted by your union.
Yours sincerely
Gerry Light
General Secretary
