Re: Cork Airport Runway Reconstruction and Extension:
Dear Ms O’Brien
I write in response to your letter received on June 30th . I want to acknowledge your frustration in the delays experienced and the numerous postponements to-date. There were a number of processes to be completed under corporate governance which unfortunately took longer than anticipated. I have forwarded a new date and time to meet so as we can outline our communications plan.
We understand that your members require “concrete” assurance surrounding their earnings during the 10-week period of the airport closure. We will communicate this to our employees on 7th July with members of the HR team from both Dublin and Cork available to meet and address any concerns/ queries after the announcement. At the same time, we will brief the relevant union officials and where necessary schedule meetings with the respective unions.
I can assure you that no discussions have taken place surrounding certainty of hours and earnings in other areas. We have however had to review our operational requirements and how resources will be deployed during the closure and management have spoken with several business units as their roles will change and they will need to take on different duties during the closure.
We acknowledge the collaborative relationship with Mandate, the flexibility and co-operation shown by all during the pandemic, which has enabled daa to take the reasonable measured approach to this unprecedented crisis.
I trust the above addresses your concerns. However, please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any additional information of clarification in relation to the matters raised.
I look forward to meeting with you on the 7th and continuing to develop our relationship as we rebuild our business.
Yours sincerely
