Pay Proposals 2022 and Details of Electronic Voting

Dear Member,

Following pay discussions and negotiations between the Company and Mandate Trade Union’s National Negotiating Committee made up of Union Officials and Shop Stewards on the 20th October, 10th November, 22nd November and 22nd December 2022, the following pay proposals are being recommended for acceptance by Mandate’s National Negotiating Committee and the National Group of Shop Stewards.

From 21st October 2022 it is proposed that a 5% pay increase over 18 months will apply to all employees covered by this proposal as follows:

  •  3% increase for the first 12 months (effective 21st October 2022)
  • 2% increase for further 6 months on all rates (effective 21st October 2023)
  • The entry rate will increase to €11.56 per hour from the 21st October 2022 and to €12.00 per hour (effective 1st January 2023)
  • Retrospective Pay Increases will be backdated to 21st October 2022

Voting will be open for the relevant Mandate members employed by Penney’s on Monday 9th January 2023

The Process of Electronic Voting

In the coming days you will receive an email from or if you have a registered mobile with Mandate Trade Union, you will receive an SMS along with their Unique Voter Code. ‌Please note that the voter code that you receive is unique to you and can only be used once.

Some members who have not registered their contact details with Mandate will not receive the notification to vote, however in order to capture everyone who wishes to vote, which is the Union’s desire, a further opportunity to register your contact details to vote will be offered as follows:

  • Registration to Vote will commence on Monday 9th January 2023.
  • Last to chance to register to vote – Monday 23rd January 2023.
  • Closing dates for ballot votes is by 5.30pm on the 26th January 2023.
  • Outcome of the ballot will be communicated to members on the 27th January 2023.
