Re: Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout
Dear Mr. Quish
As you are aware the vaccine programme is being widened out in accordance with Government and State Agency policy. On behalf of our members, I am seeking clarification as to whether the company has made provision to ensure they are not negatively impacted financially by the rollout and if they are provided with the opportunity to avail of the Covid-19 vaccination, including;
- Paid time off in order to facilitate our members’ attendance at vaccination appointments.
2. Paid time off in circumstances where our members experience a short term
excessive negative reaction to the vaccine which prohibits their attendance at work.
In the absence of prescribed guidelines, in these circumstances it is incumbent on employers to ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to facilitate vaccination appointments. Moreover, under no circumstances should our members be at a financial loss as a result of participation in the vaccination programme and common sense should apply in any facilitation process.
Furthermore, in circumstances where a member decides to avail of a vaccination appointment during a working day, then steps must be taken to ensure that proper rest breaks are facilitated.
In order to provide clarity for our members, I would appreciate a response at the earliest opportunity,
Yours sincerely
