Staff Discount on Alcohol Sales
As was reported in the January 2021 MOPI Member Update, the Union was informed by the Company that as a result of the passing into law of certain provisions contained within the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018, that as and from the 11th January 2021 the staff discount could not apply to purchases of alcohol. Notwithstanding this, the Union received numerous queries from members with regard to this matter and we wrote to the Company seeking clarification by way of correspondence dated 25th March, which can be viewed by clicking here.
The Company responded outlining their position by way of correspondence dated 26th March, which is available by clicking here, stating that S.I. No. 4/2020 – Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018 (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Products) Regulations 2020, is the specific piece of legislation that prevents the Company from being able to apply the Staff Discount to purchases of Alcohol.
Online Driver Delivery Route Planning System
Mandate have been informed by the Company that they are commencing the trial of a new delivery route planning system called “Smart Routes”, which it is envisaged will replace the troublesome Paragon system, that has been in use. Please click here for a copy of the correspondence from the Company.
The Smart Routes system will initially be trialed in 6 stores for a 10 week period. Online Drivers may be asked in the initial stages of the trial roll-out to manually log the length of time between deliveries, this is simply to assist in the programming of the Smart Routes system and your union have received assurances from the Company that this data will not be used for any other purpose.
It is imperative that all Online Drivers in the 6 stores (Limerick, Swords, Waterford, Kilkenny, Bray & Walkinstown) raise any issues or observations that they encounter with the Smart Routes system, with local management during this trial period so as to ensure that the issues can be addressed and rectified.
