Re:  Reported Sale of the Business

Dear Member

At this stage I am sure you are aware of the media reports confirming that the parent company has taken the decision to sell the business. As a consequence we understand that members are anxious to establish what, if any, impact this will have for them.

On that basis we have written to the company seeking a meeting on your behalf (see copy below) and as always we will keep you informed of developments.

If you have any queries or concerns please contact your local instore Mandate representative or alternatively your local Mandate Office.

Yours sincerely

Dear Ms Sharp

I write in the absence of my colleague Mr. Jonathan Hogan who is currently on annual leave. I am aware that Mr. Hogan wrote to the company on 11th June following media reports of a potential sale of the business which at the time were unsubstantiated and remained so.

Today it has been reported in the media that the parent company has engaged the services of Credit Suisse to proceed with an auction of the business which includes Brown Thomas and Arnotts.  In normal circumstances an announcement such as the one reported today gives rise to uncertainty for members, however in these unprecedented times anxiety levels are understandably heightened.

Given that it is now confirmed the business is up for sale, we believe it entirely appropriate that we seek clarity and surety for our members as to any potential future implications for them. On that basis we are requesting to engage with the company at the earliest opportunity and would appreciate if you would contact the undersigned to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for a meeting.

I look forward to your swift response.

Yours sincerely
