RE: National Ballot

13th January 2021

Dear Members,

As you are probably aware by now following a national ballot, the Kevin Foley brokered proposals have been rejected by 393 to 37. As a consequence the national Shop Steward group met this afternoon and decided the following.

Ongoing Dispute

The current dispute will continue which means that pickets will remain on the 11 Debenhams stores. In anticipation of potential future legal challenges it is vital more than ever that all picketing activity remains lawful and in strict accordance with the guidelines previously issued by the union. (Here)

Again the Stewards are appealing to all of their ex Debenhams colleagues to actively support the various picket lines whilst at the same time having consideration for the current level 5 Covid -19 public health restrictions.

Letter to An Taoiseach

A letter has been sent to An Taoiseach outlining our demands regarding the available €3m fund and also the urgent need for the introduction of new worker friendly legislation (Here)

Dispute Solidarity Fund

Currently the fund has a balance of €12,800 and this will be distributed amongst all active picketers using the same format applied to the pre-Christmas allocation.

Yours fraternally
For Mandate Trade Union
