Re: Members Update on Additional Hours & Pay & Benefit Claim 2023

Mandate has received numerous queries from members employed in the Dunnes Stores, Balbriggan store with regard to the fact that a number of members have seen their rostered hours reduced as a result of the Company’s decision to recruit new members of staff in the run up to Christmas.
Whilst it is understood by all concerned that the Company can legally reduce rostered hours as long as they are within the parameters of their banded hour contractual liabilities, we contest that any additional hours that become available in-store should be offered in the first instance, where feasible, to existing staff.

Furthermore, it is important to note that this Collective Grievance is in no way aimed at the staff who have recently been recruited, it is not their fault that Management chose to hire staff at the expense of existing employees.
