Dear Member,

Further to Mandate’s correspondence to Dunnes Stores senior management on the 21st December 2021, regarding the findings of our survey, as well as requesting a meeting with the company to discuss the very serious concerns found in the survey, to date the company have failed to respond which is both disrespectful to all Dunnes workers and particularly those who have been impacted by mental health concerns in the workplace and who took time to participate and convey these concerns in the survey.

We wrote to the company again today to set out in greater detail the survey results and concerns highlighted by the respondents. In addition to seeking a meeting with the company to discuss same, Mandate has also asked the company to comment on the survey before close of business i.e. 5.30pm on Friday 11th February and demonstrate an absolute commitment to resolving and addressing these issues throughout the stores.

We will of course keep you up to date on any developments in relation to this matter. We would also encourage all our members impacted by any health and safety concerns attributable to the workplace to contact your local Shop Stewards or our local Union Offices (click here), for more information on these matters and how they can be resolved.  In an effort to build union capacity and structures throughout the stores I am also asking all members to become involved in your union locally through establishing House Committees, electing Health and Safety Reps and Shop Stewards or by participating in other roles, all of which we can speak to you about.

Yours fraternally
For Mandate Trade Union

Jonathan Hogan
Assistant General Secretary
