RE: WEEKLY UPDATE
A Chara
Further to the last update please see below the latest position regarding the following issues.
€3m Government Fund
The union continues to liaise with the relevant State agencies with a view to agreeing a commencement date for the initial meeting of the oversight body who will have responsibility for the establishment and operation of the fund. Once this is known the national group will be invited to select a number of individuals to participate on the oversight body.
It has also been brought to our attention that a number of ex Debenhams workers have been contacted by the Department of Social Welfare in an effort to establish if they were actively looking for work. In response the individuals concerned have stated that they are awaiting the opportunity to take up a course with Solas. The union has reached out to the relevant State agencies in an effort to bring some clarity to this matter and we are awaiting a response in this regard.
Individual Workplace Relations Commission Cases
The union remains in constant contact with senior representatives of the WRC regarding the scheduling of these cases and we are hopeful that hearings will take place in the near future as we have entered into the final stages of commencement arrangements.
Personal Belongings
Following constant representations by the union KPMG has confirmed that within the next week that they will be contacting ex Debenhams workers with a view to outlining arrangements for the collection of personnel belongs.
