Re: Recent Correspondence Regarding Voluntary Redundancy
Dear Ms. Elwood
Following a meeting of the general membership in Joseph Murphy’s I have been instructed to inform the company at the surprise at the company’s recent decision to open a Voluntary Redundancy Programme without any prior notification or negotiation with Mandate. While member’s have no desire to impede anyone who wishes to exit the business, going forward they expect that any such significant changes are negotiated with their union representatives and they have the opportunity to ballot on same.
It is noted that the request for talks regarding a pay claim have, as of yet, not formally received a response. Given the reports that the company is engaged in a consequential change programme, namely the introduction of new work practises and processes I feel it would be in both parties interests for a meeting to be arranged perhaps once final decisions have been made regarding the Voluntary Redundancy programme so that pay can be discussed while also discussing the company’s plans for the future.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding the scheduling of such a meeting.
Yours sincerely
Eoin Griffin
