Re: Health & Safety – Tesco Rathfarnham

Dear Ms. Barry,

I received complaints from Members in the above store regarding the current refit being carried out and the lack of temporary welfare facilities that are adequate for the number of Staff in the location.

I have been informed that Staff raised these issues with Management on numerous occasions, but to no avail.

I have been informed that the temporary toilets that are in place do not have adequate hand washing facilities. Also, that the temporary staff changing facility do not provide satisfactory privacy to allow for Staff to change into their uniforms/ordinary clothes.

It has also been brought to my attention that the Staff Canteen area is infested with rodents, if so, this is of serious concern.

Based on the above, I require that Management forward to me a copy of the Risk and Welfare Assessment that was carried out for the current building works, identifying what temporary toilet changing and washing facilities would be made available for Staff whilst the work is ongoing and identifying the standard for these temporary facilities.

I also require confirmation, in the form of a Completion Report, that the rodent infestation has been properly dealt with by a competent person/company.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Meegan
