Re: Acceptance of Applications for Voluntary Severance and Outstanding Issues

Dear Members

It is our understanding that all those of you who had made an application for voluntary severance have received a formal response from the company and all who applied have been accepted.

The past few weeks have been extremely challenging for all RSOs with the considerable uncertainty that existed following the company’s announcement. It has been inspiring to observe the solidarity among the RSOs from across the country and among their fellow union members on the shopfloor. Nowhere was his more obvious than in the high number of returns of in-store petitions. Clearly this had an impact on the company’s approach and it should not be lost on any of you that the Understanding Document was the first locally agreed document between Mandate and Tesco since before the pre-1996 dispute in 2017.

For those of you transferring to OCS we would encourage you to review the advice we previously circulated to ensure you have the strongest possible document reflecting your terms & conditions of employment when you transfer across. You can review that circular here.

For any of you redeploying to a shop-floor role within Tesco we wish you the very best with the new challenge. You have seen what can be achieved by a group of workers standing together, we encourage you to become actively involved with the union in your shop if you are not already.

On the broader public campaign I have written to all those TDs and Senators who actively engaged with our campaign to thank them for their support. You can review a copy of his correspondence here.

In the coming days we will send you a short questionnaire so that, we would ask that you fill this in so that we can accurately update your membership profile.

Finally I would like to thank the members of the RSO Negotiating Committee who despite having the same worries and concerns as the rest of their RSO colleagues never lost sight of the fact that they were representing a collective bigger than themselves.

Yours fraternally
On Behalf of the RSO Negotiating Committee

Jonathan Hogan
AGSO
