Re:        Pay & Benefits Claim 2023, BIK & Small Benefit Tax Exemption


Dear Member,

Further to the general meeting held today via Zoom it was agreed that the undersigned would issue an update to all members with regard to what was discussed.

Pay & Benefits Claim 2023

It was outlined that all members have been posted a copy of the proposal, a ballot paper and a prepaid envelope to their home address. If you have not received your ballot paper in the post by tomorrow please contact me on 0872167770 or kpollard@mandate.ie and I will arrange for a further ballot paper to be sent to you. It was agreed that the closing date for receipt of completed ballot papers is Wednesday 21st December 2022 @ 12pm. The Ballot count will take place on Wednesday afternoon and all members will be notified of the outcome.

It was reported that both Mr. Noel Moran and Mr. Damian Lavin have both received responses from the Office of Minister Paschal Donohoe T.D. with regard to their objections to the introduction of changes to Benefit in Kind. A copy of the response can be found by clicking here: .

Given the response received from Minister Donohoe, which was to be expected it was agreed that we would revisit this matter in January 2023.

Small Benefit Tax Exemption

You may be aware that from 01st January 2022 employees can receive up to two small benefits, tax free, each year. This is as a result of changes announced in the Budget on 27 September 2022. These benefits must not be in cash and the combined value of the two benefits cannot exceed €1,000. Tax-free vouchers or benefits can be used only to purchase goods or services. They cannot be redeemed for cash. It is our contention that bonuses paid to members, such as the Christmas Bonus, up to a total of €1,000 could be paid in the form of a Gift Voucher and not attract Income Tax.

This matter was raised with the Company but thus far the responses received have stated that this does not apply to to the bonuses paid by Britvic. It was agreed that the undersigned would write to the Company seeking a meeting to discuss this matter in more detail.
